Thank you for visiting our website today. We assume that you have reached here because you are of Scottish lineage, are an admirer of all things Scottish, or maybe were invited as a guest to one of our social events. However you found us and took the time to explore us, WELCOME!Â
Founded in 1968, the St. Andrew's Society of Williamsburg is a social society whose mission is to perpetuate awareness and appreciation of Scottish history, traditions and culture and the contributions of Scotland and Scots to local, regional and national development, to promote social intercourse and cooperation among its members, and to support Scottish heritage and welfare through appropriate charitable contributions and educational scholarships to individuals, groups and organizations who have applied to and been approved by the Society for assistance to engage in activities that support local charities.
In short, we want to celebrate our heritage, share our traditions, and embrace our Williamsburg community.
We hope this website helps you get to know us: learning about our organization, getting a flavor for the types of events we hold rich in Scottish tradition, understanding our role in our community, and reviewing our requirements for membership. And by the end of that exploration, we hope that you will consider joining us.... whether you have Scottish blood in your veins or not.Â
The St. Andrew's Society of Williamsburg offers a vibrant array of events throughout the year, bringing together members and friends to celebrate Scottish heritage and culture. Our activities include the annual Burns Night in January, monthly Pub Nights from February through October, Tartan Day festivities in April, Spring and Autumn Kirkin’ of the Tartans, Founders’ Day in May, an Autumn Ceilidh, and a Christmas Luncheon and Ceilidh in December. Additionally, we host an Annual General Meeting to discuss society matters and support local charities through food drives and scholarships.
The St. Andrew’s Society of Williamsburg is deeply committed to community involvement, blending Scottish heritage with meaningful service. Through charitable contributions, educational scholarships, and partnerships with local organizations, we actively support initiatives that promote Scottish culture and aid those in need. Our members participate in food drives, fundraising efforts, and heritage events that strengthen both our society and the broader community. By fostering camaraderie and giving back, we ensure that our traditions not only honor the past but also enrich the present and future.
